Alexis Ruiz is a world-renowned salsa and mambo dancer, musician, and teacher based in Oslo. Born in Antigua, Guatemala, he starts dancing and playing instruments almost before he can walk, learning from his mother at her school, Ritmo Latino. By age 12, he is already teaching salsa, mambo, and Latin percussion.
At 17, he moves to Japan, opens his own dance school, forms the Latin jazz sextet “Foribale,” and becomes a salsa ambassador, earning the nickname “Alexistyle” from Albert Torres. After eight years, he moves to Norway, introducing mambo musicality and creating the Mambo Masterclass.
Alexis co-owns Norway’s only Mambo & Tap dance school, teaches internationally, and composes music with his wife, Iselin Ruiz. He is a multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and performer with top salsa bands across Norway. In 2015, he launches Allure Dance Company and co-founds the Nordic Mambo Project, sharing his passion and knowledge of mambo across Europe.
